The national flag of Bahrain consists of a red base with a white vertical stripe made up of a zigzag of five white triangles on the left most side. The triangles are pointing to the right side of the flag.
The triangles in the flag represent the five pillars of Islam. The color red represents the Kharijite sect of Islam.
The present Bahrain flag was adopted on February 14, 2002 after the Emir of Bahrain declared his country a Kingdom and himself a King.
