National Day Gandhi Jayanti

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on 2nd October every year. Mahatma Gandhi is the father of our nation. He led the independence movement of India and won us freedom on August 15, 1947.

He was born on October 2, 1868 at Porbander town of Gujarat. In his leader-ship Indians fought for their independence from the British Rulers and gained it. He called his fight ‘Satyagraha’ which was a non-violent struggle. Mahatma Gandhi put such a pressure on the British that they had to leave India.

He was popularly known as ‘Bapu’. On January 30, 1948 an evil youngman fired three bullets from his pistol at Bapu and killed him.
