The National Flag Tricolor
Our National Flag is rectangular in shape. It is equally divided into three horizontal bands. The top band is in saffron colour. It represents bravery and sacrifice. The middle band is white in colour. It stands for truth and peace. Green at the bottom stands for prosperity. In the middle of the white band is a round wheel that has 24 spokes, called Ashoka Chakra. It stands for 24 hour progress of the country.
The design of the National Flag was adopted on 26 January 1947.
Tricolour is the symbol of our pride and honour. It reminds us that we are a free country and to protect this freedom is the moral duty of every Indian citizen. We must respect our National Flag.
