Bears are generally bulky and robust animals with relatively short legs. A female bear is called a SOW, a male bear is called a BOAR and a baby bear is called CUB.  A group of bears is called a sloth of bears or ‘sleuth of bears’. Most wild male black bears weigh between 125 and 500 pounds, while females generally weigh between 90 and 300 pounds and their cubs weigh 1/2 to 1 pound at birth. Black Bears have a large brain compared to their size. Bear is one of the intelligent mammals having excellent long-term memory.
