Born in Nottinghamshire in 1734, John Barber was an English inventor and coal master, better known to the world as the inventor of the first gas turbine. He made many discoveries between 1766 and 1792 notable among which was his idea of creating a gas turbine.
He took out a patent on that in 1791 where he mentioned how to create a gas turbine with the help of a chain-driven, a combustion chamber, reciprocating gas compressor, and a turbine. In his design, the gas was to be made to be heated in a producer and passed onto a receiver for cooling only to be compressed and made powerful enough to paddle a wheel.
Although his idea was pretty fullproof yet the lack of technology in contemporary times stopped Barber from realizing his plan successfully. It was developing on this idea of John Barber itself that the modern day turbine engine was developed. He died in the year of 1801.
