The flag of Mauritius consists of four colours--red, blue, yellow and green respectively. This flag was adopted on 12 March. The colours of the flag have their distinctive meanings. Red represents the bloodshed and freedom struggle. Blue represents the Indian Ocean on which the island is located. While the yellow denotes the golden ray of freedom the green symbolizes greenery and agriculture of Mauritius.
