The Namibian flag was adopted on March 21, 1990. The national flag of Namibia consists of three diagonal stripes - the top blue, the middle red and the bottom green. The blue and green stripes are of equal size. The red stripe is bordered on the top and bottom by a thin white stripe. There is a golden sun with 12 straight rays in the top blue stripe.
The Red color represents Namibia's people and their heroism and determination. White color refers to peace and unity, while the Green symbolizes vegetation and agricultural resources. Blue is the color for the clear Namibian sky, Atlantic Ocean and rain and the Golden-Yellow Sun represents life and energy.
