Better known as 'The Father of Video Games', Ralph H. Baer was born in Germany on 8 March, 1922. Ralph had a difficult childhood and had to face difficulties due to his Jewish origin. He was expelled from school and had to migrate to America where he underwent self-schooling. With sheer hard work and enthusiasm he graduated as a radio service technician from the National Radio Institute, America. For the next few years he served in the US Army. In the later years he also acquired a degree in Television Engineering and worked for many engineering firms.
His big break came, when in 1966, he developed his brainchild, the 'Brown Box' console video game system. This marked the beginning of video game development and made way for many innovative game designs of later times. The game that he had originally built for the defence-electronics company Sanders Associates released the game in 1972 and made Ralph H. Baer a world-renowned name almost overnight.
