The flag of St. Kitts & Nevis was adopted on 19 September 1983. The flag comprises three crosswise strips. The upper and the bottom bands of colour are green and red. In the central part a black band is delimited by a slender yellow strip. Two white stars with five tips are depicted amid the black segment of the flag. The black symbolizes the African tradition and yellow represents the uniform sunbeams in the Caribbean. The stars correspond to the islands of St. Kitts as well as Nevis and represent their independence and optimism. The green strip denotes agriculture and abundance of the country. The red strip represents the nation's struggle for freedom.
