The Universe

When I read the nursery rhyme ‘Twinkle twinkle little star...’ I began to wonder what stars are and what the universe is. To know the mystery I went to planetarium, read books on heavenly bodies and comics.

I learnt a lot of things. Our Earth is the third planet of our star called Sun. The Sun and its planets make the solar system. Our Sun has planets of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, Neptune and Hugo.

We are part of Milkyway galaxy that has about 400 billion stars like our sun. It made my head spin. It takes 1 lakh years to cross our galaxy at the speed of light. Just imagine!

The scientists say there are more than 20 million galaxies in the universe.

These galaxies are far apart. Our nearest other galaxy is about 20 million light years away. My small head is beginning to spin. Now I know why every planet and satellite is spinning. They are puzzled like me.
