The national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has a red background with a five-pointed yellow star at the centre. Originally, the flag was adopted as the national flag of North Vietnam known as the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on November 30, 1955 and was later accepted as the national flag of Vietnam on July 2, 1976 after Vietnam War. Colour red is considered to represent the revolution of the working class and yellow star was defined as representing the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
