The national flag of India is a tricolor of deep Saffron (Kesari) at the top, White in the middle and dark Green at the bottom. A navy blue color Chakra known as 'Ashoka Chakra' having twenty-four spokes is present in the middle of the white strip. The chakra is taken from abacus of the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka. The ratio of the width to the length of the flag is 2:3.
In the flag, the saffron stands for courage and sacrifice; the white stands for purity and truth and the green stands for faith and fertility.
The design of the National Flag of India was adopted by India's constituent assembly on 22nd July, 1947.
