Otto Titusz Blathy (1860–1939) was a very well-known electrical engineer born in Hungary to a very wealthy family. He was well known for his outstanding inventions which he had undertaken throughout his whole life. He was a co-inventor of the transformer, developed in cooperation with his other colleges, Karoly Zipernowsky and Miksa Deri. The transformers had gained him immense popularity in the world of scientific inventions. His other excellence included the invention of the wattmeter, alternating current (AC), the turbo generator, the motor captor and the induce meter.
His career started with his works in Ganz in 1883 as an inventor. His excellence got recognition at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1990, where he was also awarded Grand Prix for his achievements. Besides his inventions, Blathy was also a well-known author. His work the Chess Problem is a very popular book, and earned him recognitions among great authors. He also specialized in the field of long movers.
